We always love to hear from our valued customers, but during our Black Friday sales we receive (literally) thousands of inquiries through our Help Center with various questions and concerns. In an effort to minimize the number of emails and tickets we receive during this hectic time, we have compiled the following list of answers to some of our more commonly asked questions. Remember, every query that we have to take time to answer is time taken away from our ability to ship out more packages. So, help us help you get your package quicker by taking a few minutes to read through the following. We hope this helps make your ordering experience with us as smooth as possible and we thank you in advance for your order!
When, where and what is the sale?
Our Black Friday sale is a yearly tradition for all fans of genre film! With an exciting slate of new disc releases, catalog slipcovers, brand new merch, and massive discounts on nearly our entire catalog, you won’t want to miss it!
The Lost City of Black Friday Sale kicks off Friday, November 29th at exactly 12:01 AM EST and runs through Monday, December 2nd at 11:59 PM EST.
Please note: Our site will be placed into maintenance mode on Monday the 25th (around 10 AM EST) to prepare for the sale.
What products will be on sale?
All VS, VS Sub-Label and Partner Label titles with a release date prior to May 2024 will be discounted for the duration of the sale. Discounts will range from 50-75% off the SRP of each release. Titles with release dates from May 2024 and on, will not be discounted, along with certain merch, clothing items, and some older Partner Label titles currently under distribution by another company.
What are the new releases?
We’ve already revealed our new releases of CONGO, LOOKING FOR MR. GOODBAR, BLOOD TRACKS, BLACK EYED SUSAN, CANNIBAL! THE MUSICAL and RON SULLIVAN: THE EARLY YEARS. Once the sale goes live, you’ll feast your eyes on:
- 2 new VS releases
- 1 new VSA
- 1 new VSL
- 1 new Cinématographe
- 3 catalog slipcovers

What are the Lost Treasures sweepstakes?
During each day of the Lost City of Black Friday Sale our Vinegar Syndrome Media Club members will have the opportunity to redeem their hard-earned VSMC points for entries into the sweepstakes.
One lucky winner will be selected for each day, and will be announced on the following day around 12pm EST. Winners will receive a very special package containing a plethora of ‘Lost Treasures’!
Entries will be gathered based on the day the sweepstakes entry was submitted. Example: If a customer submits 5 entries on Friday and 3 entries on Saturday, 5 entries will go towards the Friday drawing and 3 will go towards the Saturday drawing.
More entries submitted each day = better odds to be selected for that day. Points per entry TBD.
I already pre-ordered the new releases - what do I need to know?
Thank you for taking part in this year’s new Black Friday Pre-order! If you already pre-ordered Congo, Looking For Mr. Goodbar, Blood Tracks, Black Eyed Susan, Cannibal! The Musical, Ron Sullivan: The Early Years, the Everything Package or the Secret Releases - you made the right choice! Now you will automatically have the free “Add to my existing order” shipping option enabled at checkout, and can start adding to your pre-order the moment the sale goes live!
Plus, securing those pre-orders means your package will be first to ship out, following our Subscribers.
Everything! Package Customers: You will be receiving Congo, Looking for Mr. Goodbar, Cannibal! The Musical, Blood Tracks, Black Eyed Susan, Secret Release #1, and Secret Release #2
Secret Release Customers: You will be receiving the 2 new, VS branded secret releases.
Please be sure to check the product pages during the sale if you are not sure what the secret releases are.
I am a VS Subscriber - what do I need to know?
Our yearly + midway Subscribers will automatically be receiving Blood Tracks, Looking for Mr. Goodbar, and the 2 secret VS titles. Please be sure to check the product description of each new title, as it will let you know whether or not you are receiving that title in your monthly package.
Congo, Cannibal! The Musical, and the new VSA, VSL and Cinématographe releases will be available to purchase with your usual subscriber discount at the start of the sale.
Please keep in mind that the Black Friday sale is the last chance to pick up any 2024 VS Sub-Label releases with your Subscriber discount, as they will be hidden from the site after Black Friday and your Subscription will expire at the end of the year. Use your handy Subscriber shipping option to pick-up these titles and have them sent out with your November package!
How do I become a VS Subscriber?
We know most of you can’t wait to sign up for the 2025 Subscription, and your next chance will be during Subscriber Week in January! The first 7 days of the new year will be a celebration of all things VS, our yearly subscribers, and your only chance to sign up for the 2025 full year Subscription. More info coming soon!
Something I recently ordered is discounted for Black Friday - can I get a refund?
Unfortunately, we are unable to offer partial refunds on fulfilled orders or price match on existing orders. If your full price item hasn’t been fulfilled yet, please place an order for the product at the discounted price and reach out to customer service. We can cancel and refund the original full price item.
What will I get for my VSVOTES donation?
The reward for donating to VSVOTES will remain a surprise - but you can expect something extra with your Black Friday package. If you open your package and don’t see anything extra, don’t fret, it’s likely a system error and the reward will be shipped out separately. If you donated to VSVOTES but do not plan on placing a Black Friday order, your reward will be shipped out on its own in December.
Please note: Your VSVOTES reward will be sent out to the current default address on your account. If you have moved since April, please ensure that the default address on your account is updated before the sale.
December is Partners Only Month!
For those who don’t know, December is Partners Only month - our chance to highlight our incredible roster of Partner Labels, while giving us a chance to focus on getting your Black Friday orders out. All VS titles (old and new) will be hidden through the end of the year, and only our Partner Label titles will be available for purchase.
Due to this year’s calendar, Partners Only 2024 will begin on Tuesday, December 3rd at 12:01 PM EST. Be sure to check back then to see what the labels have been cooking up!
Important note: Because of our new and improved order stacking system, Partners Only orders can now be added to your Black Friday orders! As long as you have an unfulfilled BF order, you can continue using the ‘add to my existing order’ shipping option during Partners Only month. We’ll combine all orders + ship them out together. Just keep in mind, once your BF order ships, your option to order stack will as well. If you would prefer your BF + Partners Only orders ship out separately, be sure to place a separate order with shipping paid.
When will my order(s) ship?
We know that waiting for your orders to ship can be a drag (trust us - we go through it too!), and our team is constantly working to improve fulfillment timelines and get your orders in your hands ASAP.
That being said, Black Friday is one of our biggest events of the year and shipping out thousands upon thousands of orders takes time, no matter how streamlined the system is. Our warehouse crew will be working around the clock to ship out your orders, but please allow us through the end of December to get all orders shipped out.
We promise we didn’t forget you and there are no issues with your order - we are always combing through orders to ensure everything is running as smoothly as possible. Our customer service team is here to help with any issues and questions, but won’t know exactly when your order will ship. Please do your best to reserve all inquiries to order related issues or questions, and trust that your package will ship very soon.
